BANDS - GRENOUER

     GRENOUER was formed in late 1992 in Russia. In these early days they played fast and gruesome death metal in the Florida death metal in the Florida death metal style with gore lyrics. These influences are found on the 1993 debut demo Death of a Bite. The next year found the band going through considerable changes in the line up which altered their sound and therefore pushing GRENOUER into a direction that reflected their thinking on a more personal level in their music and their death metal sound. This reflection is found on their debut, full - length album Border of Misty Times which was released in 1996. Their debut featured 40 minutes of mid tempo thrash/death metal riffs and deep vocals on the seven tracks and the gloomy intro. The album made GRENOUER very prominent within the Russian extreme metal scene and received good reviews worldwide.
   The second studio album was recorded in 1998 when GRENOUER released the expressive Gravehead album which featured both death and black metal influences. The album represented the deep explorations of the band both musically and lyrically and established GRENOUER as one of the leaders of Russian metal scene. Most Gravehead reviews saw it as the band's peak creative work and that it showcased their individual, unique sound and style.
   Still GRENOUER, not one to rest on their laurels, didn't want to repeat the same formula and concentrated musically on mid - tempo death/groove oriented metal which defined their sound during the next five years of touring and recording. In 2000, GRENOUER recorded The Odour O' Folly which also included a live version of the 1980's A-HA hit single "Take on Me".
   In late 2002, the band entered the studio tudio nd recorded eight death/groove metal songs for their 2003 release Presence With War. In April, 2003 the album is shown, in May remastered in studio Finnvox. In 2003 GRENOUER gets over in Sankt - Petersburg and since 2004 starts to act in Petersburg clubs. The contract with the Moscow firm of CD - Maximum on the edition of all back catalogue of group on disks has soon been signed.
   2005. However soon the group has left this major label and has based the Siberian League on which has published mini - album Try. On this album on drums plays already Grave from Irkutsk group UNCROSSED. In the end of summer on Metalism Records there is a reprinting album Border Of Misty Times with smart 16 - the page booklet and remastered record. Soon the group is comprehended with tragedy - the rehearsal base with toolkit and the device has burned down. The group in a shock, however does not lower hands and continues the activity.
